Attending an International Seminar: The Right Flight

How often it is that you are called upon by an international university or a forum to present your research thesis? Hardly are you able to hide the joy and excitement of the opportunity to astonish the best of the best with your novel ideas, the chance to visit a new country, meet new people and see new people.

So when I got this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to present my paper in New York, the first two-three day were spent in sheer bewilderment. And when I finally got my senses restored, I was awakened to the need of booking an international airline that was light on my pocket, an airline I could rely on, one that had good service, and remarkable hospitality. Hence, I zeroed in on Lufthansa. The following factors will substantiate why.

A dependable airline. The most important thing is to fly with an airline known for impeccable service and seamless connectivity. When I was searching for flights to fly to New York, I intensively researched the available international flights before zeroing in on Lufthansa. With their amazing service coupled with a range of international flights, they’ve also introduced an A380 in India, something that excited me enough!

A flight with a range of inflight dishes. No wonder energies are synergised to focus on that big stage. But when you are inflight, you want to make sure you serve them everything best. With Lufthansa’s More Indian Than You Think initiative, I relished on some amazing Indian cuisine that was followed by my favourite masala chai. I can’t explain enough the exhilarated feeling savouring my favourite tea at an altitude of 30,000 feet.

Cabin crew. That, definitely, holds the key to a comfortable flight. As Lufthansa sticks to an amazingly hospitable cabin crew that uses national languages such a Hindi and Punjabi, I had an amazing time versing with the crew members.

Inflight entertainment. Might seem a not-too-important thing, but when the flight is long, you got to find ways that keep you engaged. While flying with Lufthansa, I was pleased to come across a range of inflight entertainment options which included not only Bollywood hits but also a range of Bollywood classic songs that my mom hummed before catching a nap. Blissful!

Consider the points above, and you’ll find that flying to a foreign shore with a minefield of knowledge and a flight to cater to all your tastes brings with it a new sense of joy and accomplishment that you’ll love to cherish for a long time.

Choosing The Right Flight For An International Backpacking Trip

The right ingredient for a good backpacking trip is perfect preparation. Everything from your choice of flight to the food, you carry on a trip, matter. A flight taking-off and landing on perfect time are as relevant as the choice of nutritious inflight meals when you’re flying.

Last summer, I flew with Lufthansa for my 2 week trip to Stuttgart to go and back pack around the city and nearby places. I’d booked my tickets on a Lufthansa flight for a few reasons:

1. Service Matters: Whether it is inflight hospitality by the cabin crew on a long international flight or the fact that the flight takes off and lands on perfect time so that you may keep all your appointments, airline services matter.  With Lufthansa comes an assurance of unbelievable flight service and punctuality throughout the destinations they fly to.

2. Cost Effectiveness: On most international flights, there is always complaint about a lack of space in coach class even after spending a lot of money. Personally, I’ve been most comfortable on Lufthansa economy flights as they fit my budget and are also spacious enough to be very comfortable. The flight tickets that I booked for Stuttgart were during one of Lufthansa’s ticket discount sales and I saved up a lot of money on my budget to spend on other things.

3. Creative Initiatives: All service based businesses look for ways to be fun and relevant to their customers. I, personally, think that Lufthansa’s try at being more relatable to India, through the More Indian Than You Think initiative, is brilliant! I got what was expected on my flight (which I’d heard from a lot of sources as well): a choice from fine Indian cuisine and a selection of very engaging inflight entertainment for passengers. It may seem trivial, but an initiative just focussed on a certain people shows the amount of care that went into planning it.

As is ever important, I made sure to look-up and follow all the rules regarding carrying backpacking items (such as portable stoves and lights) meticulously, as is expected in the international guidelines.

Keeping the perfect preparation situation in mind, I booked flight tickets, hotels and tours a few months in advance for my backpacking trip and double checked, over mail, with Lufthansa of the things I was legally allowed to carry on a flight.

Mentally at ease, the strict preparation made for a good inflight and backpacking experience!
